The Beauty Of Okinawa

Okinawa is different from the other 47 prefectures in Japan. It has a distinct climate, and unique cultural practices and customs. This chain of islands belonged to a separate kingdom, Ryukyu, until 1879.

It had previously been part of the Satsuma prefecture, now Kagoshima. After several military campaigns, it was made a prefecture of Japan. It is a popular tourist destination today due to its subtropical climate and idyllic locations. SpotTree is introducing spots on the main island of Okinawa for you so that you can explore the beauty of Okinawa to the fullest.

Okinawa Honto is the main island of this small archipelago. This is because the American bases are located there. Naha City is the capital of this prefecture. Shurijo Castle, a centuries-old castle, serves as the administrative seat for the Ryukyu territory.

Two kilometers south of the castle lies the Shikina-en Garden, which features native Okinawan shrubs as well as trees and is situated around a central lake. These buildings were extensions of the Shuri palace and served as second homes for the Ryukyu royal family.

The international road, or Kokusaidori, runs approximately two kilometers in downtown Naha. This main street is lined by restaurants, bars, and cafes, as well as hotels, small novelty shops, and large department stores.

There are more shops in the Heiwadori and Mutsumidori arcades. These arcades branch off the main street halfway. Another shopping area is located at the end of Heiwa Street, also known as Tsuboya Yachimun Street. Here you will find pottery shops and galleries of ceramic art along the limestone-paved road.
